<image:title>Blog - Technology and Mental Health: How Social Media Fuels Anxiety in Teens and Young Adults - For teenagers and young adults, whose brains are still developing, this system can be particularly impactful. The brain’s reward centers are highly sensitive during adolescence, while the areas responsible for impulse control and long-term decision-making are still maturing. This combination can make young users especially vulnerable to the addictive pull of digital platforms. As an anxiety therapist, I often see how this dynamic plays out in real life. Many young people tell me they feel compelled to check their phones repeatedly throughout the day. Notifications, likes, and comments can begin to shape how they evaluate themselves and their social standing.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Understanding OCD and Rumination: How ERP Treatment Can Help - “If I just think about it enough, I’ll feel better.” In OCD, thinking more rarely brings lasting relief. It strengthens obsessions. “But this feels important.” OCD specializes in making thoughts feel urgent and morally significant. “I can’t control my thoughts.” Correct. You cannot control intrusive thoughts. But you can learn to change your response to them.</image:title>

<image:caption>For many people, anxiety and depression are accompanied by harsh self-talk: “Why can’t I just get over it?” or “I’m so weak.” But imagine if, in those moments, you made a different choice—not to fix everything instantly, but simply to speak to yourself with compassion. That too is a choice: to be an ally to yourself instead of an adversary.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Do I Have OCD? Understanding the Symptoms and When to Seek Help - Why Self-Diagnosis Isn’t Enough It's tempting to rely on internet quizzes or social media checklists for answers. While these tools can offer initial insight, OCD is a complex condition that’s often misunderstood—even by professionals not trained in it. What might seem like “quirky” or “perfectionistic” behavior could actually be signs of a treatable condition. Using structured tools like the Y-BOCS, a licensed clinician can provide an accurate diagnosis, rule out other conditions (like anxiety or OCPD), and guide you toward effective treatment.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - What Your Anxiety Might Be Trying to Tell You: A Deeper Psychological Perspective - From a psychological perspective, anxiety is often a cover emotion. Beneath it, you might find: Fear of failure or judgment Grief you haven’t fully processed A desire to please others at the expense of yourself Unacknowledged anger or resentment Childhood patterns or trauma that haven’t been addressed When these emotions remain buried, they create internal pressure. Anxiety becomes the release valve. Anxiety treatment isn’t just about symptom relief—it’s about uncovering what your anxiety is trying to protect or distract you from. <image:title>Blog - Why TikTok Got OCD All Wrong (And How to Fix It) - 1. It Equates OCD with Perfectionism Many videos misuse #OCD to describe traits like being a “neat freak.” While those may be preferences or personality quirks, they’re not OCD. In fact, many people who seek OCD treatment have no issues with cleanliness or orderliness. 2. It Over-simplifies the Experience A 30-second video can’t capture the anguish caused by real OCD. Intrusive thoughts can be disturbing, violent, or taboo, and they often go completely against a person’s values. These are not “quirks”—they’re deeply distressing and exhausting experiences that require specialized OCD therapy. 3. It Contributes to Stigma and Misunderstanding When OCD is portrayed as a personality trait, it minimizes the seriousness of the disorder. It also makes it harder for people with less visible forms of OCD—like Pure O or harm OCD—to feel validated or seek help from an experienced OCD therapist.</image:title>

Together, we can work toward building healthier relationships, fostering self-awareness, and creating meaningful change. I am here to listen, support, and walk alongside you every step of the way.
